Eventech Ireland 2009 RDS Dublin

Well, I have just got back from Eventech in Dublin so here is the low down.
There was a good showing by some of Irelands major suppliers including
Rea Sound, Ard Soilse, AVL, Reynolds, Just lite, Mosco & Sennheiser Ireland
so it was a great way to catch up with old friends and check out new kit.
Rea Sound were showing the Digico SD8 & Allen + Heath iLive boards plus
Nexo and Trantec kit, Ard Soilse had the new LTM Loadguard Hoists,
The Elation Range of moving lights, and in conjunction with the UK’s AC lighting
the Green hippo Critter. Just lite was showing off the Avo tiger Touch, Robe lighting
& prolyteTruss. AVL was kind enough to provide the Eventech Bar + Meeting area
which seemed pretty popular but this had major competition from the beautifully laid out
Light Source S+H draping stand with its never ending supply of free Guinness!!.
Education was high on the list of activities with free seminars covering everything from digital
audio networking to using the web to increase event attendance. There was excellent
representation by all of the Irish professional associations.
The association of Irish stage technicians, Association of lighting designers,
Network of event organisers Ireland, Institute of sound and communication engineers
and the Irish nightclub industry association. I had a chat with Sarah Carroll from NEO Ireland
and she mirrored the opinion of other organisations of the importance of professional standards
for the industry. From the basics of proper insurance and tax clearance to levels of quality
and certification. NEO are the driving force behind the Centre for Excellence in Events (www.c4ee.com)
which is dedicated to improving the knowledge and expertise of individuals and companies
in the planning and management of events through education and industry relationships.
and promotes Best practice and innovation in the events industry.
Having talked with a few of the exhibitors the opinion was that numbers were not very high
but the quality of those who did come was good with deals being done and orders being taken.

Interesting products at the show included The new LF-120 and LF-220 active,
electronically steerable mini line array from Fohhn & Real Sound Lab’s CONEQ technology.
The CONEQ system is a combination of measurement software and either software or
hardware speaker correction which is designed to get a flat response from your speaker
system.

So will we meet again for Eventech Ireland 2010? I hope so, it is important to have a focus
for the Irish events industry and a chance for people to catch up with clients and
other professionals whilst having the chance to get hands on experience with the latest kit and innovations.
